Editable templates only work in Adobe Acrobat Reader and NOT Windows default PDF viewers (e.g. Microsoft Edge or Reader).
Until you install Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer, templates will open in these default PDF viewers and they won’t work correctly (the text won’t be editable & fonts will look strange)!
Step-by-step Downloading Instructions
- Download Adobe Acrobat Reader for free here and install it on your computer.
- Do not install the ADOBE READER TOUCH APP from the App Store. This app is is different to the full Adobe Reader program & will not let you edit any text. Only install the full Adobe Acrobat Reader program from the above link.
- Download a fresh/new copy of your files (save them to your computer if prompted).
- Do not directly click on the files from your Internet Browser when they have finished downloading or they will open in the default PDF viewer. or in your internet browser.
- Navigate to the folder on your Desktop where your downloaded files were saved to (this is usually your Downloads folder unless you chose a specific location) and select them.
- Right-click on the file, select Open with, choose Adobe Acrobat Reader from the list.
- Your file will now open in Adobe Acrobat Reader!
Set Adobe Acrobat Reader as your default PDF viewer
On Windows 8
- Navigate to a folder on your Desktop and find any PDF file. Right-click on the file.
- From the drop down menu, select Open with, and Choose default program.
- Select Adobe Acrobat Reader.
- All your PDF files will now open in Adobe Acrobat Reader by default.
On Windows 10
- Navigate to a folder on your computer using File Explorer and find any PDF file. Right-click on the file.
- From the drop down menu, select Properties (it’s at the very bottom).
- Click on the Change… button next to Opens With.
- Select Adobe Acrobat Reader from the pop up window and press OK.
- All your PDF files will now open in Adobe Acrobat Reader by default.
